CORE AIMS OF CFD

In fuller fulfilment of its Mission, The Centre for Development (CfD) principally aims to achieve this by -

 

Promoting a pool of experts on alternative processes and methods of socio-economic change and international development;

Undertaking grassroots community action research, and organizing workshops and seminars for community awareness about the multi-facets of poverty and its reduction, climate change and environmental community actions, and equality and diversity in community engagement programs;

Encouraging and promoting innovative entrepreneurial initiatives aimed at developing social mission-driven ventures aimed at tackling poverty, deprivation and inequality along the bottom-up development path;

Stimulating maximum interaction among the CfD personnel through interdisciplinary meetings, seminars and conferences on socio-economic issues, and facilitating their expertise known to a wider audience of development partners and donors;

Exploring economic opportunities for the young people – students work placements vis-a-vis jobs and social enterprise initiatives;

Promoting active citizenship and community empowerment through skill development and capacity building;  

Disseminating information on advanced knowledge, findings of studies and research on multi-dimensional aspects of socio-economic development through periodic publications, newsletters, websites, social-media platforms, etc;

Facilitating interdisciplinary exchange and cooperation towards greater mutual benefit of civic society organizations in Scotland and foreign nations to ensure good governance and human rights;

Connecting development practitioners, academics and researchers, social entrepreneurs, social economy organizations, NGO entrepreneurs, environmental and climate change action groups, civic society organizations, prospective investors and donors, and arts and cultural operators in Scotland and developing countries;

Networking and communicating with prospective resource persons and organizations localized in Scotland and both developed and developing countries to forge collaborations and exchange programs in areas such as education, health, technology, arts and culture; and

Strengthening partnerships with the voluntary, statutory and community sectors in Scotland, and encouraging racial harmony in communities; thus enhancing the promotion of strong inter-community and cross-cultural relations.

The central focus of The Centre for Development (CfD) is to promote, enhance and influence the socio-economic development of Scotland through –

  1. encouraging and promoting social mission-driven community empowerment initiatives towards reduction of deprivation and poverty;
  2. exploring and promoting youth economic and job opportunities;
  3. encouraging climate change and environmental community actions;
  4. unleashing the power of technology with cautious use of AI while benefiting all people;
  5. promoting grassroots community action research;
  6. encouraging racial harmony in communities;
  7. ensuring good governance and human rights at all levels of civic and open society operations;
  8. strengthening partnerships with the voluntary, statutory and community sectors, thus enhancing the promotion of strong inter-community and cross-cultural relations in Scotland; and
  9. facilitating interdisciplinary exchange and cooperation towards greater mutual benefit of civic society organisations in Scotland and other countries.
